The book presents an "analytical biography" of Macaé Evaristo, one of the main thinkers and public managers of Brazilian education. More than a traditional bibliographic narrative, the book presents, from a first person narrative supported by the voices of important thinkers/activists in Brazil, how this fundamental black leadership from Minas Gerais was constituted as a person, as manager and social activist since her birth in São Gonçalo do Pará, her establishment in Belo Horizonte and her socio-political-educational work throughout the country.
